Windows 7 won't let applications write to C:\. Isn't c:\filename.iso a valid path in Windows 7? This is the default but wont store here.

Windows 7 has native support for burning an ISO file, maybe that's why it puts them in a virtual store.īy the way you can't delete them to the recycle bin, only a permanent delete, by holding down the shift key. Sounds a program trying storing the file somewhere in the directory structure that it shouldn't, where vista/7 will create an equivalent in the virtual store. The file is fine and I can burn it back to DVD w/ no issues just strange how it doesn't store it in my root c:\ directory. "I'm using DVD Shrink to make iso's from DVD's and I've noticed that my ISO files are being stored in the VirtualStore folder. Still I did get one ISO to write to the root, so somehow I fooled windows 7 without knowing how. Its a guy with the exact same issue I am having. I found this in another forum, not sure if its correct. still does not explain how one of the files snuck past and was written to the root of C: I did not know that windows 7 does not allow programs to save files to drive C:/Īpparently if you try to do that it will recreate a file in this virtualstore directory. My fix for now is not to use the slysoft clone CD or the free slysoft mounting software.Īppreciate it if someone could shed some light on what is going on here. I disabled slysoft clone CD mounting software in the device manager, I disabled the free slysoft mounting tool. Even with search, even with show all files including OS files set to ON.

When I changed to win 7 I noticed that sometimes my ISO files would be written to the root of drive C but when I attempted to look for them I could not find them. I think I figured it out but am not sure why it does this.
